At last we’re on the trail... a quick hit on Mt Tsukuba in the mist and rain. We saw this more as a workout than a ‘gentle’ trek. The path was rugged, rocky, moss covered and VERY steep. The route followed purely Japanese signage directly up the mountain with hardly any zigs let alone zags. Entertainment on the trail came in the form of screaming 17 year old boys follow an incident with a large‘fly’ , the boys thinking it a killer hornet!
Unfortunately, 800metres from the top we had to turn around due to time constraints. This proved correct as the descent took as long as the ascent.
A faster travel back into Tokyo but quite late meant a quick bite to eat and then to bed in our little individual pods.
